Scratch the B-SIDE ft ROYALTY (Five Easy Pieces)

Friday 21 September at the Notting Hill Arts Club
7pm-2am, free before 8pm, £6 before 11pm, £8 after

Live on stage at 10pm: Royalty (Five Easy Pieces)
United DJ's from Scratch & Funk Royale: Richy Pitch (Gorillaz Sound System), Matt Smooth and Mr Chex (Funk Royale) and host MC Tukka

What a wicked start we had last month, with Mo Kolours playing a deep set on stage.

This month we have the seriously talented (and underrated) Royalty, aka east London duo Chesca and Elliott Yorke whose music is released by the badda than bad Five Easy Pieces.

Their latest EP, 'Purple Nights', demonstrates the rapid maturity of their suave, electrofunky digital boogie. XLR8R described them very well:
'Somewhere in between Daft Punk's robotic revelry, Kraftwerk's chilly minimalism, and Jimmy Edgar's austere sex appeal, you'll find Royalty's Chesca and Elliot Yorke working out deep low-end melodies, incessant dance rhythms, alien vocoder sounds, and icy synthlines - all of which perfectly create the duo's retro-futuristic motif.'

And don't forget the Royalty flexi-disc which B-Side are giving away to the first 100 people through the door. Get down early to pick up September's exclusive edition'.

*****FREE PARTY***** SCRATCH presents: DJ Woody's 'Big Phat 90's' AV show + The Four Owls (with Dj Madnice) LIVE. *****FREE PARTY*****

Back in 96 we started out at The Cross Bar which is now known as The Big Chill House. On the 29th September we return for what's sure to be another jammin' night of true school hip hop

DJ Woody's 'Big Phat 90's' AV show is a nostalgic chronological musical ride through some of the decades dopest moments, taking in the likes of De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Naughty By Nature, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, Fugees, Dr Dre, SnoopDoggy Dogg and much more.

DJ Woody reworks the classics with his unique blend of custom graphics, video sound bites and renowned turntable technique to rock the 'slamminest' 90's house party since Kid n Play raised the roof.

Live on stage we have the UK's most exciting live outfit for some time, The Four Owls (with DJ Madnice)

Led by the merciless BIG OWL (FLIPTRIX), guided by the teachings of BIRD T (VERB T), entertained by the do-or-die spirit of RUSTY TAKE-OFF (BVA MC) & inspired by the inventions of DEFORMED WING (LEAF DOG). Expect nothing less than that raw boom bap

Hosted by MC TUKKA and SCRATCH DJ's Matt Smooth, Tomski, Lyley and Richy Pitch (Gorillaz Sound System)

Hip Hop don't stop
