B-SIDE: OM UNIT @ Notting Hill Arts Club, Friday 19th April

Another month, another B-Side session and this ones set to be a belter. Om Unit graces us with his, quite frankly, immense ‘Ulysses VIP mix’ on exclusive gold foil print white flexi disk.

The London based Om Unit is the alias of Jim Coles. Producing since his early teens starting with Jungle, via the world of turntablism under the ’2tall’ moniker he repped the UK in the DMC world DJ championships, appeared on the John Peel show, collaborated with Dabrye, Foreign Beggars, Kashmere, Jesht & produced 3 albums including “Beautiful Mindz” a collaborative project with U.S duo Dudley Perkins & Georgia Anne Muldrow (Stones Throw), & “The Softer Diagram” on L.A-based Content Records, Jim retired 2tall in 2008 and reset.

Now as Om Unit he has quickly become one of electronic music’s most pioneering & unique front-runners. One of the most exciting artists to emerge in recent times, his output, packed with unique combinations of style & diverse demonstrations of his adaptability he has consistently helped to shape music’s electronic landscape.
The passed year alone has seen releases on Planet Mu, All City, Metalheadz and continuing work with his very own Cosmic Bridge imprint looks ever brighter.

March’s B-Side basement session see’s the UK’s first LIVE appearance from Belgium’s hottest young producer POMRAD (Ernest Endeavours) alongside Dj's Richy Pitch (Gorrillaz Soundsystem), Laurel. Canyon, Matt Smooth, Tomski, Lyley & MC host Manners.

With the release of his "Vlotjes" EP, Pomrad took Belgium by surprise. Following “Hot Rain” being featured on the Brownswood Electric 3 compilation Pomrad tracks started surfacing in mixes from Kutmah Alex Nut and Gilles Peterson.

His electric stage show is a funky and raw mixture of keyboards, samplers, keytar and talkbox. Inspired by Herbie Hancock to Zappa and Lefto. His forthcoming release on Earnest Endeavours, set for April comes highly anticipated and continues his collaboration with the amazing visual artist Victor Robyn.

Accolades include Red Bull Elektropedia Awards 2012 Nominated for Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, Best Live Act and Best Album

This month Pomrad's 'ROMBAUTZ' continues the free flexi disk action courtesy of DC. Get your advance ticket to guarantee your super limited editon vinyl.

This month we’re excited to announce someone we’ve been looking to book since we kicked off back in August 2012 & thanks to DC we're ON!… ARP 101 (Eglo Records)

ARP 101 is the astro-funk alias of Alix Depauw, otherwise known as London-based D&B producer Alix Perez. As with many producers, Alix splits different sides of his sound over two monikers, with ARP 101 being ‘an alias for freedom’ for the innovative beat maker – ‘it’s where I can experiment and produce anything I feel, and it’s the same with the performance side of things when I’m DJing and playing live.’

Since releasing his critically-acclaimed debut on Alex Nut and Floating Point’s Eglo imprint, ARP 101 has had a string of releases and remixes which have come out on Bonobo, Ninja Tune, Starkey, Civil Music, Slugabed and others. Forthcoming EPs will be released on Eglo Records, Om Unit’s Cosmic Bridge Records and Donky Pitch. Props have come across the board from Dam Funk, Benji B, Mary Anne Hobbs, One Man and many more.

We continue with our exclusive B-Side flexi disk is in the form of Arp 101's, quite frankly huge, Mystery Man. Only available at B-Side

We're excited about our first session of 2013 back in West London's loudest basement, with KidKanevil playing one of his genre defying live sets.

DJ/Producer Kidkanevil first came to prominence with the release of his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Problems & Solutions’ back in 2007, and has since gone from strength to strength.

Described by Bonobo as “like the best moments of RJD2 and Timbaland combined…incredible!” and “a sonic visionary” by iDJ, the kid has earnt the praise and respect of numerous peers and journalists, counting the likes of DJ Shadow and Wire Magazine amongst his fans, and progressives Tokimonsta, Blue Daisy and Illum Sphere amongst his contemporaries.

Having 3 solo albums under his belt the Kid's latest offering see's him team up with Japan's Daisuke Tanabe to release 'Kidsuke'. Both a headphone experience and dance floor dynamite, it’s an intelligent journey into the creative mind of a truly innovative and experimental producer.

Fresh off 2012's Red Bull Music Academy and ready to unleash a barrage of new music and collaborations on the world, this is just the beginning.

Blurring the lines between hip-hop, future beats, jazz, jungle, dubstep and worldwide sounds, Kid Kanevils DJ/Live sets are a force to be reckoned with.

This month also see's the return of our free flexi disk. Kid Kanevil has blessed B-Side with the unreleased extended DJ edit of his '10 second' reflip from the 'freebeatsnbleeps' beat tape.

Check out the short version here:- ) and see you on the 18th if you want the 4 minute version on exclusive flexi disk.
